Honeymoon in Istanbul!

Dear Beloved  Client,

I am so excited to be heading off to Europe on April 8th! We are visiting Dragos’ family, as we do every year, in Ploiesti, Romania. We will stay with with his mom and visit his 91 year-old grandmother, have a big Easter celebration on the 15th (Orthodox calendar). Then on Monday the 16th we fly to Istanbul (just Dragos & I) for a week. I am so excited to have a week together with no work, no obligations, in a beautiful new place. We will visit the Blue Mosque and drink Turkish coffee. Dragos already lost his wedding ring so we’ll try to find him a new one while we’re there.

While I am gone this month it is a great time for you to meet Ali Leighton, LMT. She will be in the office a little more than usual while I am away, and I know she’d love to work with you. Ali is a very gifted massage and polarity therapist. Her work is deeply nourishing and therapeutic. Her youth gives her energy a buoyancy that is lovely to feel. I am a big fan of her work and see her at least once a month.

I hope you have a lovely Easter and beautiful April in Maine. I look forward to seeing you in May when I’m fully refreshed and excited to get back to massage.

Love,

Jennie

Kangen Water

My friend Diane started bringing this special water over to my house. She has a Kangen machine that filters and alkalizes water and then gives it a negative ionic charge. I started drinking the water and it made me feel so good I bought a machine. Dragos and I are getting used to having it in the kitchen.

I think I am doing quite a de-tox at the moment with the water. I’ve known for a long time how important ph balance is to physical health. Drinking this water makes a huge difference in body acidity…and when I mix Kangen water with super-acidic things like sugar and coffee I can feel like my body is experiencing a mini chemistry experiment. But that’s what eating and drinking truly always is…chemistry.

Water is such a vital ingredient in our lives and I feel good to be getting high quality water everyday. The Kangen was an investment but I feel good about taking care of this aspect of my family’s health.

Love and Peace~

First Batch of Massage Oil

Six weeks ago I made my first oil infusion. I stuffed a 32 oz Mason jar with calendula flower blossoms, red clover herb, and comfrey leaf and then filled it with Extra Virgin Olive Oil. I purchased all my ingredients from Mountain Rose Herbs. It’s all 100% organic, super-lovely stuff. For six weeks the oil sat in my cupboard, and now it is ready to be strained and put to good use.

I was just speaking with an esthetician/chemist this morning. She was telling me how olive trees are almost indestructible and live for 600 years, that is why olive oil is so useful medicinally. There is some kind of element in the olive tree that promotes health and longevity. I chose the herbs calendula, red clover, and comfrey because they are all breast-supportive and I meant for this first batch of massage oil to be breast oil.

According to Susun S. Weed in her book Breast Cancer? Breast Health! calendula blossoms are “a reknowned old wives’ remedy against breast cancer.” Gentle enough to use everyday calendula “excels at preventing–and, with patience, removing–adhesions and scar tissue, even keloid scars.” Red Clover “helps the lymph system reabsorb unneeded cells.” Comfrey leaf oil and ointment “both strengthens tissues and helps them become more resilient and flexible. As a pre- and post-surgical ally, it has no peer.” The oil is a deep greenish-gold and I will add some essential oils of lavender and grapefruit to be both relaxing and uplifting.

I can’t wait to start doing self-breast massage with this oil. I am selling 4 oz bottles of this first batch for $15 if you would like to give it a try.

Breast Massage

Many women carry trigger points around their sternum, between their breasts, and deep in pec major which runs under the breast tissue. Opening the muscles around the breasts relieves pain in the middle of the back, neck, and shoulders. Breast massage also stimulates lymph flow, tones the endocrine system and helps keep breast tissue healthy. With all of the driving, desk work, and bras we come into contact with, a breast massage is a quick and easy way to create better feeling in the body.

For the love of Raindrop Technique!

Raindrop Technique always feels so beautiful and decadent. It was developed by Dr. Gary Young of Young Living Essential Oils. It is based on his work with the Lakota tribe. Raindrop Technique is emotionally clearing and aligning to the spine. The oils are applied to the inner arch of the feet and the spine itself. Specific, localized massage, a hot compress, and some assisted stretching round out the therapeutic effects of the oils. Raindrop Technique does not include as much muscular manipulation as a therapeutic massage but you will experience deep relaxation.

The oils used are Oregano, Thyme, Basil, Cypress, Wintergreen, Marjoram, Peppermint and additional oil blends of Valor and Aroma-Seiz.

I buy most of my oils from Mountain Rose Herbs, but only Young Living has some of the best therapeutic blends.

Epsom Salt

I love it when something is super-valuable and highly accessible, like Epsom Salt. Epsom Salt is Magnesium Sulfate, so when you take a bath you are getting an important micronutrient (it soaks in your skin). A salt bath also eases fatigued or injured muscles, is detoxifying, and relaxing.

I add about a cup of Epsom Salt to my bath and maybe add a few drops of essential oil or some dried lavender or other herb. Soak for 20-30 minutes. Especially wonderful when experienced right after a massage! If you can’t handle a full bath, you could just do a foot soak.

Treat yourself, goddess!
