Six weeks ago I made my first oil infusion. I stuffed a 32 oz Mason jar with calendula flower blossoms, red clover herb, and comfrey leaf and then filled it with Extra Virgin Olive Oil. I purchased all my ingredients from Mountain Rose Herbs. It’s all 100% organic, super-lovely stuff. For six weeks the oil sat in my cupboard, and now it is ready to be strained and put to good use.

I was just speaking with an esthetician/chemist this morning. She was telling me how olive trees are almost indestructible and live for 600 years, that is why olive oil is so useful medicinally. There is some kind of element in the olive tree that promotes health and longevity. I chose the herbs calendula, red clover, and comfrey because they are all breast-supportive and I meant for this first batch of massage oil to be breast oil.

According to Susun S. Weed in her book Breast Cancer? Breast Health! calendula blossoms are “a reknowned old wives’ remedy against breast cancer.” Gentle enough to use everyday calendula “excels at preventing–and, with patience, removing–adhesions and scar tissue, even keloid scars.” Red Clover “helps the lymph system reabsorb unneeded cells.” Comfrey leaf oil and ointment “both strengthens tissues and helps them become more resilient and flexible. As a pre- and post-surgical ally, it has no peer.” The oil is a deep greenish-gold and I will add some essential oils of lavender and grapefruit to be both relaxing and uplifting.

I can’t wait to start doing self-breast massage with this oil. I am selling 4 oz bottles of this first batch for $15 if you would like to give it a try.
